I'm tired.

Hi, my name is Amy, I come from Alabama and I sell Apples.

StandsMom said...

I made it! I made it I made it I made it. Hey wait a minute. Where is y'all?

Jenny ESP said...

K, I'm hosting this here discussion. Flem is tied up. So, what did you all think?

Hot Pants said...

It was enjoyable.

Markie23 said...

Stands, your back... and still awake! Good on ya!

Jenny ESP said...

Oh, stands, good for us!! What's your review of this book? Like? Love? Hate?

Hot Pants said...

Teeny writing and worn out bosoms.

Markie23 said...

C'mon people, it's past my bedtime.

Landee said...

Thank goodness for neighbors that don't put passwords on their wi-fis.....hollah!

Jenny ESP said...

What did you all think of the changing POV?

StandsMom said...

I enjoyed the fairytaleness. I like the idea of the kids growing up and falling in love. But for crap if I didn't just read 4 books all really close together. In fact, one I started this morning and finished this afternoon on the airplane. I liked that The S&S reminded me of Goose Girl...which is one of my all time favs.

Hot Pants said...

Sometimes I liked it, sometimes I didn't.

Landee said...

What does "teeny writing" mean? Is that the actual size of the print in the book or the small-ish way in which it was written?

Hot Pants said...

It sometimes reminded me of Scooby Doo

Jenny ESP said...

I thought the "voice" of the story stayed the same, despite the changing POV, which was confusing for me. I had to keep trying to figure out who was thinking.

Hot Pants said...

Small print

StandsMom said...

I like it when royal heirs go through lots of 'hard times' where they have to exist like a normal person. I think it sets them up to be a better ruler.

Hot Pants said...

I've worked hard to not wear out my bosoms you gize.

Jenny ESP said...

What did you think about all the characters habit of talking aloud to inanimate objects, like walls and fireplaces? I've never done that. Have you?

Hot Pants said...

I liked that too Stands.

Hot Pants said...

That's what I would do if I was rich.

Markie23 said...

Funny HP. I'm glad Torina didn't lay her head on her grandfathers worn out lap.

StandsMom said...

If the change in pov bugged you in this book, Jespy, beware before you read Conspiracy of Kings. It was all over the place, vague and down right confusing sometimes.

Jenny ESP said...

Trying to come up with deep discussion topics here... I'm sure Flem would have done better.

Hot Pants said...

Poor Tiger Woods

StandsMom said...

But I loved finding out what happened to Sophos.

I don't remember anyone talking to objects. Did they?

Jenny ESP said...

Changing POVs in the potato book was delightful tho! BC each POV was distinct.

StandsMom said...

Sorry. I'll focus on one book only. Don't mind my allovertheplace...ness.

StandsMom said...

Hey Landee wifi stealer. Nice one!

Jenny ESP said...

GP about the trials of future rules, Stands.

K, what was your favorite part of the book? Mine was definitely when L swam out to the ships and blew them up. That was very exciting!

Markie23 said...

I wasn't bugged by the changing POV.

StandsMom said...

I loved the ships part too. I wish I could take a gander at the high king. He sounds, um, interesting.

Markie23 said...

Good reading on your cruise Stands???

Jenny ESP said...

What did you think about the sword not really being utilized in this book? Is there to be a sequel? anyone know?

Hot Pants said...

I liked the boat part too Jespy. I felt like the author was trying to be sneaky and not give stuff away, then later got tired of being sneaky and decided to just tell us.

Hot Pants said...

The HEaler's Keep

Landee said...

I found this book to be the opposite of confusing. It was simple and straight-forward and enjoyable in its simplicity. Easy read. Easy story line. Nothing deep or momentous.

My fave part was Landen getting to Torina first before that dbag did.

Hot Pants said...

The no used sword was lame

Amanda said...

Jenny, I hated it.
Hot Pants, my writing was small too and worn out bosoms are bosoms that husbands touch too much.
Landee, so sorry your internet is down and thank goodness your neighbors don't have passwords. Love that.
Jenny, changing POV was unprofessional. I felt like I was reading a novel written by a teenager.
StandsMom, what other books are you reading?

StandsMom said...

Markie. Y.e.s.

Amanda said...

Not enough sex in this book. There, I said it.

Jenny ESP said...

What did you think about Torina's decision to stay in hiding for so long? Do you disagree with any of her decisions?

Hot Pants said...

They kept missing each other. It reminded me of when Edward called to see if Bella was still alive and Jacob answered the phone. Edward just missed Bella...

Markie23 said...

YEAH!!

StandsMom said...

Captain Blood, S&S, and the Conspiracy of Kings (which is the 4th book in the Thief series).

Amanda said...

My favorite part of the book? Um.....................................

StandsMom said...

Ok. So sorry I don't know how long I can hang out. I've been up since 4 am, and in planes all day.

Markie23 said...

Amanda was just upset at the number of people still alive at the end.

Hot Pants said...

This is going a bit slow...

Amanda said...

StandsMom, wow, you've been busy. Is Captain Blood really as good as Jenny says? Wait, you don't have to answer that. I don't mean to get us off track.

I didn't really like how they stayed away from each other for so long. It bothered me that she never considered that Landen was still alive. I did like the family that took her in. They were cool and I like how she kept herself hidden. That was smart of her.

Amanda said...

Lol @ Markie.

Jenny ESP said...

How do you think Landon became such a skilled swordsmen if he was morally unable to kill? What did you then think of him killing all those ship people?

Hot Pants said...

It was a necessary evil.

Markie23 said...

What Amy said.

Amanda said...

I also disagreed of Torina's decision not to tell anyone about who she really was. That kind of bugged me. What would it hurt to tell the family she was with? It also bugged me that Landen never revealed himself. But I guess it was all so they could come out at the end. Woohoo.

Hot Pants said...

If Landen had only revealed himself to the high king who would have given him his sword. Then what would have happened?

Amanda said...

I don't think you can become a skilled warrior without killing. That seemed unbelievable to me.

Jenny ESP said...

Did you think T and L should have had more interaction in the story, or did you find their fast connection believable?

BTW, Captain Blood is stupendous!

Landee said...

K, internet isn't working very well. How have I become so dependent on this modern-day convenience??

Peace out peeps.

Jenny ESP said...

What did you think of L's made up name of Ballenes? Was that not a risky name to have chosen?

Amanda said...

The high king would have given him the sword as soon as he stole it. We could have carved many pages out of the story. Stole sword. Found Torina. Saved the day. Boom, story over.

Hot Pants said...

The names in the book bugged me more than the writing.
See ya Landee.

Markie23 said...

What if Frodo had just given the ring to one of the giant Eagles to drop into the volcano for him? Let's not over analyze this. It was just entertaining reading.

Jenny ESP said...

Out, landee. Thanks for trying.

Amanda said...

Bye Landee, miss you already.

Jenny, yes, Bellanes = stupid name, way too obvious

StandsMom said...

And I don't think you can be a good ruler unless you learn to make hard choices and do what it takes to protect your kingdom.

Jenny ESP said...

The names bothered me too. No likey. What did you think about King Awesome joining forces with King Badguy? Was that a necessary evil?

Jenny ESP said...

Why did King Awesome so readily trust King Badguy?

Hot Pants said...

Well, I still have a test to take, and times a tickin away. The book did it's basic job. Thanks Flem. Talk to you all later.

Markie23 said...

k, what I really want is to hear more about Captain Blood, and the next book in the Kings Thief series... but right now I have to go to bed. I'll announce next months book tomorrow. Nighty night.

Jenny ESP said...

Sorry, these questions are lame!!! Feel free to throw out an interesting question.

Amanda said...

I felt that T and L's fast connection was unbelievable because they were so young. However, if they could have had more time together as teenagers it would have worked. What didn't work for me was Torina falling for that low life, Vesputo. I thought she was supposed to be a smart, fiery, red headed girl with a brain. Not a naive girl who falls for the power hungry right hand man. There wasn't enough back story on that relationship to make it believable. Again, it was told to us, rather than shown to us.

Amanda said...

Good night Hot Pants and Markie. Jenny, your questions aren't lame.

Jenny ESP said...

Dropping like flies! I totally let Flem down. Good night, HP and Markie. Can't wait for the big announcement! And if you would accept my invite to Goodreads already, you would know all about Captain Blood.

Amanda said...

I thought King Awesome wasn't so awesome after he joined with King Badguy. Very stupid move. I thought he was smarter than that.

Amanda said...

Sorry I don't have a lot to say. Usually I can't shut up.

Jenny ESP said...

Ok, good to know, Amanda. I also thought her sudden romance with V was strange. It was an epic story told in 300+ pages, so she resorted to tell us part of the story. Meh. Not how I like it. But there were a few redeeming qualities that made me see it had potential.

BTW, I started Conspiracy of Kings tonight. Off to a great start.

Amanda said...

Captain Blood is my next read, I promise.

Jenny ESP said...

Believe me, the pleasure will be all yours.

Jenny ESP said...

I want a Peter Blood action figure.

Amanda said...

Well, I guess I'm out of things to say.

I can't wait to hear about tomorrow's book announcement. TTYL

Jenny ESP said...

K, see ya everyone. Sorry you couldn't make it in time, Flem!! and sorry I did such a crappy job of taking over the discussion.

Thanks for being the book picker this month. You and your book have loads of adoring fans!
